Synova Emerging Leader Fellowship

Do you want to be part of the next generation of NICU nurse leaders? Invest in your future by participating in this amazing eight-month program which will give you the education, tools and contacts you need to be successful in your growing career.

The Emerging Leader Fellowship is a joint program of Synova Associates and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses. Together, we want to equip neonatal nurses and APRNs like you with leadership skills critical to success.

As a Synova Emerging Leader Fellow, you will have interactive learning opportunities and will create a lifelong network through participation at the NANN and NICU Leadership Forum conferences, virtual discussion forums, and monthly webinars. Collaboration with a mentor and a case study presentation round out this comprehensive program.

You will emerge with skills and knowledge including how to transition from peer to boss, leadership styles, emotional intelligence, navigating difficult conversations, building teams, basic financial principles, leading a quality improvement initiative – and about 60 CEs!

The tuition for the full program is ONLY $1500 and a limited number of scholarships towards the tuition (up to $1000) are available. The tuition includes all course materials, as well as conference registration fees, hotel and travel for both the 2018 NANN conference in Anaheim, CA and the 2019 NICU Leadership Forum and New Leader Bootcamp in Phoenix, AZ.

Important dates:
  • August 15: Application deadline
  • September 1: Accepted fellows notified
  • September 15: Program begins
  • October 17-20: SELF pre-conference and NANN conference in Anaheim, CA
  • April 27-May 2, 2019: New Leader Bootcamp, 2019 NICU Leadership Forum and program graduation!

Qualifications:
  • Nurse or APRN currently employed in a NICU
  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience
  • No more than 1 year in a NICU Manager position
    • No limit to how many years in Ass’t Manager, Resource Nurse, etc. role
  • ADN required; BSN preferred

Synova Associates and NANN have partnered to develop the Emerging Leaders Fellowship program. Whether your goals are to be a NICU leader, a leader within NANN, or just would like to add transferable leadership skills, this program is for you.  However, depending on whether your goals are more geared towards hospital based or more towards association-based leadership, NANN and Synova will be providing you with some specific information/content and your project/case study will have a different focus.  If you are interested hospital-based NICU leadership, you are in the right place!  If you are a NANN member who is interested in becoming a future leader within the association, please apply for the Emerging Leader Fellowship through NANN.
