March of Dimes Excellence in Perinatal Leadership Award
This award honors leaders in the maternal-newborn care line who demonstrate four essential attributes: effectively supports his/her team, advances the care of patients and the operation of the unit, has strategic vision and has excellent communication skills. These attributes are the heart of what makes a strong leader, and March of Dimes and Synova are proud to partner together to honor an exemplar of these qualities, through the inaugural March of Dimes Excellence in Perinatal Leadership Award.
This new Excellence in Perinatal Leadership Award will be given to an exceptional leader, in the area of maternal-newborn care. Candidates should be nominated by their staff in recognition of their outstanding ability to spearhead improvements in the quality of care given in their unit/service line.
2023 Perinatal Leadership Award
Nomination Criteria
The nominee should be a maternal-newborn nurse leader who:
- Develops and/or implements a strategic vision for the unit(s) taking into account patient and staff feedback
- Applies their knowledge of evidence-based practice to advance the care of patients and the operation of the unit(s)
- Leads by example and effectively supports and mentors their team
- Possesses excellent communication skills
2023 Perinatal Leadership Award
Selection Process
- Nomination forms must be received by September 1, 2023. Incomplete applications or those received after the deadline will not be considered.
- Blinded copies of all nominations will be submitted to a selection committee who will evaluate the nominees based on the criteria above.
- Nominations will be judged solely on the basis of the nomination form. Additional materials will not be considered.
- The Award recipient will receive notification of selection in October 2023.
Recognition
The 2023 winner will be honored at a presentation during the 2023 Perinatal Leadership Forum. They will receive a complimentary Conference Registration, 3 hotel nights and airfare to attend the 2024 Perinatal Leadership Forum.
