
Evidence-based care pathway for newborns supports emergency resuscitation and family-centered care
For preterm newborns, the Golden Minute through the Golden Hour (first 60 minutes following birth), is a critical time for clinicians to apply evidence-based interventions, including thermoregulation, respiratory support, and family-centered care. These steps can lead to fewer complications and better long-term outcomes, especially among newborns that are: significantly premature, and at extremely low and very low birth weights.1

Enter the new Dräger Babyroo® TN300 configurable open care warmer. Its design supports the NICU team as they make regular clinical assessments of the preterm newborn. It offers an intuitive 12 O’clock concept to simplify and standardize set up and an optional transport M540 monitor complete with SpO2 and ECG to align with the latest NRP guidelines, a built-in scale with automatic weight adjustments and the ability to weigh the patient while the mattress is tilted. Babyroo’s bed tilt indicator can support protocols related to intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), feeding and development. The Babyroo respiratory support interface requires minimal set up and may help standardize protocols and support resuscitation guidelines for newborns.

Example situation: A L&D team is preparing to deliver a baby at 33 weeks gestation. The team will use specialized features of the Dräger Babyroo to assign APGAR scores, manage the newborn’s body temperature and airway as needed while our M540 monitor can provide real-time data to assess SpO2 and ECG.
