The Leap of Faith from Law to Innovation
Lisa’s journey began when she returned to work as a lawyer after having her son, determined to make breastfeeding work—especially after struggling with it during her daughter’s infancy. She quickly realized that her office setup wasn’t built for pumping moms. Surrounded by male colleagues and staring at bottles of breastmilk lined up on her desk, she knew she needed something better.
“I was just a mom trying to do all the things—show up for my family and career, and be a successful breastmilk-producing mom,” Lisa shared. “But I didn’t have a sustainable solution to safely store and transport milk. Often, it takes a mom to solve these problems.”
She searched for options but found only clunky, short-lived, and obvious milk-storage solutions. So, she did what moms do best, she got resourceful. Lisa filed for a patent and teamed up with friends to create a simple, versatile, and discreet solution. That solution became Ceres Chill.

Just like breastfeeding, Lisa believes that small goals can lead to tremendous achievements. She recalls the moment her lactation consultant saw her struggling through tears and pain while breastfeeding her son. The advice she got was exactly what all moms need to hear, “Let’s make this work for both of you. Set a small goal—just one ounce a day.” That one ounce turned into 2 years and 4 months of exclusive breastfeeding.
Small goals are enough—because you are enough! Lisa’s advice to breastfeeding moms everywhere, “Give yourself grace. Even if you can just give one ounce, you are giving enough.”
