Greater than the sum of its parts.

Greater than the sum of its parts. That’s how one sponsor described their first experience at the recent Synova Associates LLC NICU Leadership Forum. Its one thing to know how great our community of nurse leaders is, but another entirely to have sponsors reflect it back.
After a few days of quiet reflection (much needed being an introvert surrounded by hundreds of people for a week…) I feel like our Synova community of nurse leaders and industry professionals is truly remarkable. Beyond the sense of not feeling alone, the conversations to solve challenges, to improve products for moms and babies, to promote teamwork and self care, created opportunities for real change in healthcare.
I was honored to facilitate an intention setting workshop with Lori Gabriel Gunther, MS, CPXP and Diane Rogers, CSP, PCC. We guided 220 nurse leaders through an exercise where they set an intention for growth, wrote it on a heart shaped stress ball, and asked them to throw their ‘heart’ across the room. We then challenged the person who caught their heart to connect with them to coach them through their intention. The feeling of over 200 people creating a personal intention for growth in the same room at the same time was overwhelming. And watching them toss their ‘heart’ to a potential stranger was the epitome of the Synova community.
We are here to be vulnerable and show up for each other, because when we do that, we are way more than the sum of our parts.
