Synova Legacy of Nursing Leadership Award
The Synova Legacy of Nursing Leadership award celebrates extraordinary nursing leaders who have made significant and lasting impact in the field of nursing and healthcare. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exemplary leadership, innovation, and dedication, consistently advancing patient care, championing nursing excellence, and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals. Through their vision, commitment, and remarkable impact, these leaders set the standard for effective nursing management and transformative healthcare practices.
The Synova Legacy of Nursing Leadership award is sponsored by Prolacta Bioscience.
Nomination Criteria
The nominee should be a nurse leader who:
- Neonatal and/or Perinatal Nursing Leader
- At least 15 years of formal nursing leadership, with continued advancement in roles with direct reports
- Demonstrated commitment and participation in the Synova community.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; master’s preferred
Submission Process
- The application will open one time per year for anyone in the Synova community to participate. (Nominations will be open each year after NICU Leadership Forum – May and accepted through September 30th.)
- Applicants must have a “sponsor” who will support their application process and serve as a reference. Therefore, the sponsor should be able to speak to the professional accomplishments of the applicant, but it is not required that the sponsor be a nurse.
- All applications will be reviewed each Fall, and the selected honoree will be notified in January. Awards will be presented at NICU Leadership Forum or Perinatal Leadership Forum, depending on the discipline and availability of the winner.
Key Aspects of a Nomination Sponsor
- Advocacy: The sponsor acts as an advocate for the nominee, highlighting their strengths and accomplishments to the selection committee.
- Credibility: Sponsors should be individuals who have a personal or professional relationship with the nominee and can speak to their qualifications with authority.
- Support: A sponsor provides support to the nominee during the nomination process, potentially offering guidance, advice, or assistance with paperwork.
- Letter of Support/Recommendation: In many cases, the sponsor provides a written statement outlining the nominee’s merits and why they deserve the nomination.
- Differentiation: Sponsors help to differentiate the nominee from other candidates, emphasizing their unique qualities and contributions
Recognition
The 2027 winner will be honored at a presentation during the 2027 Synova Leadership Forum. They will receive a complimentary Conference Registration, 4 hotel nights and airfare to attend a 2028 Leadership Forum.
